If you're reading this, you're probably comparing equipment specs at 10 p.m. with a deadline creeping up on you. I do that for a living. Get an industrial-grade thermal transfer printer with a ribbon, and order labels made from vinyl or polyester. The printer itself doesn't have to be expensive—just make sure it handles at least 4" labels and has a durable printhead. Buy a spare ribbon too. A $40 ribbon can save you from a $400 reprint when the first roll runs out mid-shelf.

I'll be honest: this one surprised me. We started adding screen printing questions when laser customers realized they could diversify into apparel. Pantone 286 C, for example, converts to roughly C:100 M:66 Y:0 K:2, but the actual ink on cotton won't match unless you mix it properly.
